First dive in open water. Went under Swanage Pier with Richard Barnwell. My buoyancy was no good and the tide was out, so found it very difficult to get any depth. Visibility was atrocious which meant we couldn't even see from one pier strut to the next and so kept swimming away from the pier noticeable because it became lighter. Got separated a few times because of the bad vis. Saw a little crab but not very much else. Richard's bottom timer only registered 15 minutes because we spent so much time bobbing around above 1.5 metres, but we spent more than half an hour in the water. Overall a good first confidence boosting dive. I was very pleased with my semi-dry suit which kept me warm as toast in rather cold water.
